• Critical care nursing certified (CCRN). CCRN is a specialty certification that validates and demonstrates exceptional knowledge in caring for acutely/critically ill patients

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified via American Heart Associated (AHA)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certified

  • NIHSS stroke certified. This is an American Heart Associated (AHA) accredited certification that provides me with additional knowledge on identifying and managing strokes 

  • Critical Care Nursing Specialty trained. This was a 100-hour program of continuing education units that provided me with advanced knowledge on managing critically sick patients (this is separate from the CCRN certification mentioned above and is in fact additional training)

  • Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) certified. This is an advanced practice certification through the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) and provides enhanced knowledge on managing wounds, ostomies, pressure injuries, and incontinence

  • Certified Nutrition Coach. My nutrition certification is through NESTA, a NCAA accredited program. This knowledge set has helped me to provide additional guidance to clients in the management of diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease

  • Healthcare Management experience. I was a charge nurse for several years and I have been a director at a Long Term Acute Care facility (LTAC)

  • Member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)

  • I have over 20 years experience in a wide variety of acute care settings including hospice, critical care, emergency room, psychiatric care, wound management, pulmonary, post-surgical, and orthopedics. The majority of my direct patient care background has been with individuals over the age of 65.

  • Extensive experience in Alzheimer’s/ dementia.  My father had mixed Alzheimer's / dementia, and I was his primary caregiver for years. I have also taken care of countless patients and clients over the years with memory impairment. In addition, I used to organize and host an Alzheimer’s / dementia support group for caregivers.

  • University of California, Irvine, CA  - Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology and Psychology, 1999. This has offered me additional skills in navigating complex family dynamics.

  • California State University, Long Beach, CA - Master of Science, Healthcare Administration (MS/ MHA), 2007. This degree has provided me with extensive knowledge of healthcare system and how it operates.
